為害棕櫚科觀賞苗木之象鼻蟲種類、寄主及生態初報

摘　　要

　　 棕 櫚 科 (Palmae) 即 平 時 通 稱 的 椰 子 類 植 物 ， 為 本 省 重 要 的 觀 賞 植 物 之 一 ， 多 用 於 行 道 樹 、 庭 園 樹 或 盆 栽 觀 賞 (如 常 見 的 大 王 椰 子 (Roystonea regia) 、 棍 棒 椰 子 (Mascarena verchaffeltii) 及 棕 竹 類 等) ， 也 是 經 濟 栽 培 作 物 (如 可 可 椰 子 (Cocos nucifera) 、 檳 榔 (Areca cathecu) 等) 。 彰 化 縣 境 為 本 省 苗 圃 類 作 物 的 主 要 栽 培 地 區 ， 占 全 省 總 栽 培 面 積 之 52% ， 其 中 大 型 觀 賞 用 棕 櫚 科 苗 木 之 種 植 面 積 亦 居 全 省 之 冠 ， 栽 植 種 類 繁 多 ， 以 棍 棒 椰 子 (M. verchaffeltii) 、 酒 瓶 椰 子 (M. lagenicaulis) 、 海 棗 屬 (Phoenix spp.) 及 蒲 葵 類 椰 子 為 大 宗 。 近 年 來 ， 苗 木 價 格 低 迷 ， 農 民 利 潤 有 限 ， 常 疏 於 田 間 經 常 性 管 理 ， 未 能 對 病 蟲 害 防 微 杜 漸 ， 致 使 為 害 日 趨 嚴 重 。 因 而 導 致 農 民 血 本 無 歸 ， 終 致 燒 毀 、 廢 園 者 時 有 所 聞 。

Primary Study the Insect Pests, Hosts and Ecology of Weevil Attacking Ornamental Palm Seedlings

Summary

　　 In recent years, the ornamental palm seedlings were dominantly attacked by weevil pests in Changhua area of Taiwan. The species of weevil pests, host seedlings, and ecology have been studied. Results showed that there were three palm weevil species: red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Olivier), small weevil (Diocalandra frumenti Fabricius) and asiatic palm weevil (Rhabdoscelus lineaticollis Heller) attacked palm plants. The species of red palm weevil is the dominant pests, which breed on seedlings of Phoenix sylvestris, P. canariensis and Bismarckia nobillis. The distribution regions of this weevil included Tienwei, Yungching, Pitou, Chutang, and Chichou. Small weevil attacked in Mascarena verchaffeltii, Roystonea regia and P. loureiri, occurred in Chichou and Tienwei. Asiatic palm weevil attacked in M. verchaffeltii, occurred in Tienwei. Durations of the egg, larval, pupal and adult stages for small weevil were ca. 6-10, 35-40, 10-16 and 15-22 days, respectively. The behaviors of these weevil pests were also described.
