沙烏地阿拉伯旱區之稻作研究及其生產展望
Ⅱ、卡新省雙期稻作之初步試驗

摘　　要

　　為 探 究 沙 烏 地 阿 拉 伯 卡 新 省 典 型 的 王 子 農 場 盆 地 栽 培 雙 期 水 稻 之 可 行 性 ， 於 1978 年 間 春 作 ， 用 三 個 長 粒 型 秈 稻 品 種 ， 一 為 當 種 Amberbook ， 另 二 種 由 台 灣 引 進 之 NTU 302-2-2 及 Sipi 201602 ， 自 1 月 30 日 起 至 2 月 26 日 止 ， 每 隔 10 天 播 種 及 插 秧 一 次 ， 計 4 處 理 ； 在 夏 作 用 Amberbook 及 NTU 兩 品 種 ， 自 5 月 30 日 至 7 月 30 日 止 ， 每 隔 15 天 種 植 一 次 計 5 處 理 。 重 複 4 次 ， 裂 區 設 計 。 土 壤 為 沙 質 粘 土 。 其 初 步 試 驗 結 果 如 下 ：

　　春 作 ：

1. 收 量 最 高 之 時 期 處 理 ， NTU 為 第 3 處 理 高 達 10.32 t/ha ， 次 為 Sipi 及 Amberbook 之 第 2 處 理 產 量 分 別 為 8.43 及 5.00 t/ha 。
2. 播 種 最 適 宜 時 期 ， NTU 在 2 月 16 日 或 中 旬 ， Sipi 及 Amberbook 均 在 2 月 6 日 或 上 旬 ， 在 播 種 後 35～40 天 插 秧 。
3. 過 早 種 植 ， 在 秧 田 及 插 秧 後 會 發 生 嚴 重 之 冷 害 ， 但 過 遲 栽 培 會 減 少 分 蘗 及 穗 數 ， 導 致 減 產 。

　　夏 作 ：

1. 產 量 最 高 之 時 期 處 理 均 為 種 植 最 早 者 ， NTU 達 7.25 t/ha ， Amberbook 為 4.88 t/ha 。
2. 夏 作 最 適 宜 之 播 種 時 期 ， 均 顯 示 須 在 6 月 上 旬 之 前 ， 以 20 天 苗 插 秧 為 宜 。
3. 種 植 較 遲 時 在 10 月 間 會 遭 嚴 重 的 冷 害 ， 會 導 致 嚴 重 的 減 產 ， 或 因 抽 穗 不 結 實 ， 甚 至 不 會 抽 穗 。

　　總 之 ， 在 沙 國 卡 新 省 之 盆 地 ， 要 在 一 年 當 中 ， 同 一 塊 土 地 上 要 種 植 雙 期 水 稻 ， 因 受 氣 候 之 限 制 ， 是 根 本 不 可 行 者 。 但 如 在 適 期 栽 培 高 產 NTU 品 種 產 量 極 高 ， 且 很 安 定 。 當 地 Amberbook 品 種 宜 在 晚 春 至 初 夏 種 植 ， NTU 即 在 春 夏 種 植 為 宜 。

Rice Research and its Prospect of Production in Arid Regions of Saudi Arabia II. First Trial of Double Croppings in Gassim

Summary

　　In 1978, the first trial of double croppings of rice in Saudi Arabia was made with three long-grain indica rice varieties, one being local Amberbook and the other two from Taiwan, NTU and Sipi (used in the spring only). The varieties were tested with 4 dates of sowing/transplanting, starting from January 30 through February 26 at 10-day intervals, as the spring crop, and with 5 dates of sowing/transplanting, starting from May 30 through July 30 at 15-day intervals as the summer crop, in a sandy clay soil of Prince Naif’s farm in Gassim basin of Saudi Arabia.

　　From the spring experiment, it was found that yield was the highest in February 2 seeding, reaching 5.00 t/ha in Amberbook and 8.43 t/ha in Sipi. However, the variety NTU gave the highest yield of 10.32 t/ha when seeded on February 16.

　　Too early planting suffered from serious cold damage in the seed-bed and in the early stage of growth after transplanting. Late planting showed decline in tiller number and grain yield.

1. The summer experiment showed that the eariest planting gave the highest yield, 4.88 t/ha in Amberbook and 7.25 t/ha in NTU.
2. The optimum seeding time was before early June, and about 20-day old seedlings were transplanted.
3. Late plantings suffered from cold injury prevailing after October.

　　Double rice croppings on the same land in Gassim is impossible due to the constraint of weather. Amberbook is suitable for late spring and/or early summer cultivation, while NTU for spring cultivation.
