台中秈十號之育成 The Breeding of Taichung Sen No. 10

摘　　要

　　Taichung Sen No. 10 is a newly developed Indica type medium long grain rice Variety. This Variety was developed on 2nd rice crop 1978 and named on 1st rice crop 1979. It was found that this Variety was resisted to rice blast and brown planthopper. The yield of Taichung Sen No. 10 was Very high, especially in 2nd rice crop. It was about 21% higher than Taichung Sen No. 3 in the advanced yield trial. When comparied to Taichung Native No. 1, a wild spread Indica rice in the island, it was about 44% higher. Additionally, it processes many good characters, such as idea Plant type, good eating quality, cold tolerance and early maturity, etc.
