番茄在複作制度下之功能

摘　　要

1. 由 於 抗 熱 、 抗 病 品 種 之 育 成 與 改 良 技 術 如 荷 爾 蒙 處 理 ， 剪 定 或 摘 心 ， 高 畦 栽 培 之 配 合 ， 使 番 茄 可 在 週 年 任 何 季 節 中 栽 培 及 調 節 收 穫 期 間 一 個 月 至 五 個 月 。
2. 矮 性 或 高 性 不 同 植 採 型 態 使 番 茄 在 時 間 上 與 空 間 上 適 合 於 間 作 或 糊 仔 作 之 集 約 栽 培 。
3. 生 長 期 中 需 要 多 量 與 平 均 分 佈 之 勞 力 ， 使 番 茄 較 其 他 作 物 易 於 吸 收 家 庭 勞 工 ， 連 續 數 月 中 固 定 之 收 入 及 單 位 面 積 土 地 上 獲 高 之 利 潤 。

　　這 些 優 點 證 明 番 茄 多 在 集 約 的 複 作 制 度 下 ， 尤 其 是 小 農 場 有 剩 餘 家 庭 勞 力 時 為 最 適 合 之 作 物 。

Role of Tomato in Multiple Cropping Systems

Summary

1. As development of heat-tolerant and disease resistant cultivars with the improved technology, (as hormone treatment, pruning or topping, use of raised bed), it makes tomato can be grown in any season around the year and the harvest duration can be adjusted from one to five months.
2. Short (determinate) or tall (indeterminate) plant type of tomato will increase the crop intensification in both time and space dimension by intercropping or relay-intercropping.
3. Labor intensive and even distribution of seasonal labor on growing tomato will absorb more family labor than other crops. This will give high return per unit of land and continuous income for several months.

　　Such advantages prove tomato is the most suitable crop for inclusion in intensive multiple cropping system, especially for the small farm with the surplus family labor.
