Seeder Used for Raising Seedling in Woodframe for Power Rice Transplanter

摘　　要

　　It is known that rice yield can increase for more than 10% by using power rice transplanter instead of hand transplanting. However it requires a specific method of raising seedling and a set of rather high cost facilities, therefore this method is difficult to be adopted by the individual farmers. Although Hoint Commission on Rural Reconstrustion and Taiwan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry have sponsored to establish 76 enterprised rice nursery centers since 1973 to relieve the problem, the cost for raising seedling by box for the above power transplanters still requires about 630,000 NT$per 100 ha of paddy field. In order to reduce the cost, a woodframe for raising seedling was designed by Taichung DAIS'S rice agronomist in 1971. The cost of woodfram was only 360,000 NT$, and now it is widely adopted by many nursery centers in central Taiwan. Recently under the cooperation of rice agronomist and the mechanicians, a hand operated seeder was deviced for saving the labor of sowing rice seed in the woodfram. The sowing speed of the seeder was 50 times faster than that of hand sowing. Besides it also can be used to apply semi-dried soil to cover the seedbed. It is easy to manufacture and the cost is low.
