　　 落花生臺中 2 號係以彰化縣沿海之大城鄉、芳苑鄉及二林鎮等鄉鎮農家所種植的 「立枝仔返」 地方種族群為親本，於 1991 年春作及秋作，進行優良單株純系選拔， 1992 年春作至 1993 春作進行優良單株選系生產力之評估試驗， 1994 年春作至 1997 年春作進行品系試驗 ( 品系代號為 TC 80-81) ， 1998 年春作至 2000 年秋作進行區域試驗 ( 品系代號為臺中選育 2 號 ) 。此品系由於具 大莢、大粒、產量穩定及適合蒸煮鮮食用等特性， 於 2005 年 7 月 21 日通過審查，登記為「臺中 2 號」，商品名為「綿綿」。臺中 2 號屬維吉尼亞半直立型 (Virginia bunch type) ，生育日數春作平均為 115 ± 7 天，秋作約為 110 ± 7 天。植株呈半直立型，平均株高春作約 39.0 cm ，秋作約 35.4 cm 。葉色濃綠呈倒卵型，莖色淺綠，花黃色，莢果無尖果喙，中筒型，果腰淺，平均長 3.9 cm ，寬約 1.5 cm ，百莢重春作 169 g ，秋作 177 g ，莢果具網紋，屬二粒莢型。籽粒為長扁圓形，平均長 1.96 cm ，寬 1.07 cm ，千粒重 706 g 及 700 g 。平均莢果產量春作 3,001 kg/ha ，秋作 2,372 kg/ha ；平均籽粒產量春作 2,062 kg/ha ，秋作 1,591 kg/ha 。籽粒油份含量春作 52.2% ，秋作 52.1% ；蛋白質含量春作 28.0% ，秋作 27.3% 。在田間自然發病情形下，銹病與葉斑病罹病等級與對照品種臺南 11 號無差異。

　　 Taichung 2 is a newly developed variety of peanut (Arachis hypogaea. L.) and released by Taichung Agricultural Improvement and Extension Station, Council of Agriculture in 2005. This variety was derived from local peanut population “Lichi-tzae fan” by using the pure-line selection breeding method. Pure line selection was conducted on spring and fall crops in 1991. And the yield trials for selected lines was conducted through spring crop of 1992 to spring of 1993. The advanced yield trials for the superior lines were evaluated from 1994 to 1997, including Taichung 2 which designation of TC 80-81. In addition, Taichung 2 was evaluated in regional yield trials around the island through spring crop of 1998 to fall crop in 2000 for its yield potential and stability under the designation of Taichung Select. 2.

　　 Taichung 2 is a virginia bunch plant types peanut variety with semi-erect growth habit and required approximately 115 ± 7 days and 110 ± 7 days to harvest in spring and fall crop at Taiwan, respectively. The average plant height is 39.0 cm and 35.4 cm in spring and fall crop. Its leaf shape is ovule with dark green color, stem is light green and flower color is yellow. The pod shape is medium cylindrical, without beaked nature of pod, medium construction and reticulation. Hundred pod weight is approximately 169 g and 177g in spring and fall crop, respectively. The pod size is 3.86 cm × 1.53 cm and 3.94 cm × 1.44 cm in spring and fall crop, respectively. The seed shape is oblong, seed size is 1.96 cm × 1.08 cm and 1.96 cm × 1.06 cm in spring and fall crop, respectively. The thousand seeds weight is 700~706 g. Taichug 2 showed the superior yield stabilities than the local cultivar, but lower than the check variety Tainan 11, the average pod yield is 3,001 kg/ha and 2,372 kg/ha, respectively, in spring and fall crop. The kernel yield is 2,062 kg/ha in spring crop and 1,591 kg/ha in fall crop. Oil and crude protein contents are 52.2% and 27.3%~28.0%, respectively. The result data of rust and leaf spot diseases spontaneous infection under field condition showed no difference between Taichung 2 and check variety Tainan 11.
